Nikki Miesen

5th Grade Teacher

I am beyond blessed and grateful for the opportunity to teach 5th grade at Buckner Fanning School at Mission Springs. Before moving to San Antonio four years ago, I worked in both Northern & Southern California as a Special Education Teacher, serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Special Education with an emphasis in teaching students with emotional disturbances.

The empathy, perspective, and knowledge I gained from working with this population have helped me truly embrace the concept of being a lifelong learner. Every student has a story, and I believe we have so much to learn from one another’s journeys. Over the past four years, I have had the pleasure of working as a substitute teacher with NEISD. It was especially meaningful to serve in the same schools my two daughters attended while also putting my teaching experience into practice. These experiences have deepened my love for working with children and strengthened my desire to create a classroom environment rooted in acceptance, love, and understanding—one where students feel seen, supported, and encouraged to grow from wherever they are.

Outside of the classroom, I stay busy with my beautiful daughters, Jordan and Hayden, and my loving husband of almost 23 years, Ian. Jordan is a recent Reagan High School graduate and is excited to begin her next chapter at Baylor University, where she will pursue a BFA in Musical Performance. Hayden is entering her 8th-grade year at Lopez and is living her best life through dance, theatre, and advanced academics. Both girls have kept me busy with school volunteer opportunities over the years, and I have loved every moment of being a part of their worlds.

I am so excited to have found a home at Buckner Fanning School at Mission Springs and understand just how special this campus is to everyone who has the honor of serving here. I cannot wait to meet everyone and begin this new chapter together! Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions. I look forward to getting to know each of you and your children!
