Meet The Board of Directors

Board President
Paula McCain
It is a true honor to serve as Board President for Buckner Fanning School. I am deeply grateful to be part of a community where students are encouraged to grow both academically and spiritually, and I look forward with excitement to all that God has planned for our school.

I hold a BBA from the University of Texas at Austin and earned my teaching certificate from UTSA. After teaching for 20 years in NEISD, I joined the Buckner Fanning family, where I taught for two years before becoming the Business Manager.

My husband and I have been married for 46 years and are blessed with two grown children and a joyful grandson who is three years old. At home, we enjoy the company of our two beloved dogs, and when we’re not there, you can often find us at Canyon Lake. I love spending time with family and friends, as well as traveling and exploring new places.

Vice President

It is my privilege to serve on the BFSMS Boad of Directors since August 2024 and bring to the Board over 35-years of business experience. I retired from USAA after 30-years of service to include 12-years as Executive Director responsible for all Board of Directors and CEO’s Office related operations and corporate governance.

I am thankful for the vision of Buckner Fanning in providing a school with rigorous academics, small class sizes, and Christian education within a beautiful hill-country setting. I will work tireless to keep his vision alive for current and future families and students whose lives are touched and shaped by this unique school.
My board service focus is primarily establishing governance practices to promote the effective fiduciary responsibility of the Board and development of long-range strategy to ensure the school will be here for generations to come. I am blessed to serve on this board so rooted in love and passion for the success of the school.

Treasurer
Cece Given
I have had the privilege of serving on the Buckner Fanning School Board for the past three years. My love for this school brought me back after retiring as Business Manager in 2015, following more than a decade of service to the school, the foundation, and the church. I am honored to continue supporting our mission in my current role as Treasurer.

For over 40 years, I have worked and volunteered in business with a focus on operations, development, and non-profit administration. I am currently chairing the Capital Campaign for the Animal Defense League, a role I took on after serving as President of the Board for seven years. In addition to board service, I enjoy fostering kittens until they are ready to find their forever homes.

I am a proud graduate of UTSA and a dedicated fan of UTSA athletics. I also serve on the Executive Committee of Empowered Connections, a mentoring program that pairs executive women in San Antonio with female student-athletes.

I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Brent, for many years, and together we have two sons, Blake and Cord.

With 34 years of experience as an educator, serving on the Buckner Fanning School Board allows me to continue pursuing my passion for education. Doing what is right for children has always been my highest priority. I spent the last six years of my teaching career at Buckner Fanning School, which gave me the opportunity to see firsthand the excellence of private education at its best.

Through outstanding leadership, I witnessed the seamless blending of strong academics with Christian values. The small class sizes, rigorous curriculum, and focus on social-emotional development create a clear path to student success.

I have also seen the remarkable improvements to both indoor and outdoor learning spaces, which provide students with unique advantages in their educational journey.

As I continue to serve on the Board, I look forward to supporting the growth and ongoing success of Buckner Fanning School at Mission Springs.

Board Member
Richard Kimbrough
I serve as the Vice President for External Relations and Chief Development Officer at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW). In this role, I provide leadership in university development, alumni relations, marketing, communications, and university events.

My career in fundraising began at private Catholic high schools in the Minneapolis–St. Paul area, followed by my work at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Minnesota, where I served as Vice President and Chief Development Officer. During my time there, my colleagues and I helped raise $2 billion. Later, at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, I created and led the Defining Moment Campaign, which raised $165 million and transformed the university’s development efforts.

As a San Antonio native, I am proud to serve on the Board at Buckner Fanning School at Mission Springs. My family and I have long supported the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word through their missions in South Texas. My wife, Becky, and I have been married for 25 years, and we have two children, Mary and Ricky. We enjoy road trips to Durango, Colorado, and weekends in Rockport, Texas.

As a proud parent of three daughters at Buckner Fanning School at Mission Springs and a board member for over three years, I’m deeply invested in the mission and future of our school community. My professional background spans nearly two decades in executive leadership within the cybersecurity and technology industry, leading global operations for cybersecurity firms and I have built security operations teams and programs from the ground up for multiple Fortune 500 companies. I bring strategic planning, operational excellence, and a focus on building strong teams to my work on the board.
What drew me to this role is the opportunity to contribute to an environment where faith and education come together to shape young lives. I’ve seen firsthand through my daughters’ experiences how Buckner Fanning doesn’t just teach academics—it builds character, nurtures faith, and creates a community where every child is known and valued.
What I appreciate most about our school is the intentional way our faculty and staff invest in each student. The small class sizes, the moral foundation woven throughout the curriculum, and the genuine care shown by our teachers create an atmosphere where children can grow academically, spiritually, and socially.
This year, I’m looking forward to continuing our work on strategic initiatives that ensure the long-term strength and sustainability of our school while staying true to the values and mission that make this community so special.
