Nicole Frederick
1st Grade Teacher
Hello! My name is Nicole Frederick, and I am thrilled and blessed to be teaching first grade at BFSMS. There is nothing that I enjoy more than getting to know your children and finding ways to help nurture and develop their love of learning.
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I graduated from Western Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and developmental psychology. I obtained my master’s degree in counseling psychology from Pacific University. I have worked and taught in a variety of environments. Whether it be working in a preschool, teaching homeless children in downtown Seattle, substituting, teaching at a learning center, teaching first/second grade multiage, or working here at Buckner, I have loved it all! Additionally, I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults as a therapist doing short-term clinical interventions in a medical setting. I find so much joy in watching children make new discoveries, develop new interests, and helping them meet their goals.
As to my personal life, I am an adoptive mom of three gorgeous kiddos. My son Zander is a junior at Reagan and an avid football player. My daughter Lainey is going into 8th grade at Lopez and loves listening to music, drawing, and Girl Scouts. My youngest daughter is 6 and attending first grade at BFSMS this year. We also have an adorable golden retriever named Moose!
My husband is a clinical psychologist for the Air Force, and we have been together for over 26 years (married for 23). We have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to live on three continents and travel all over the world. I love glitter, reading, cooking, traveling, hiking, and spending time with my family and friends.
This is going to be such an incredible year full of exciting units of study and hands on learning experiences. Thank you for the honor of teaching your sweet children.
