Nicole Frederick

1st Grade Teacher

Hello! My name is Nicole Frederick, and I am thrilled and blessed to be entering my third year of teaching first grade at BFSMS. First grade is such a magical age to teach—full of constant surprises, opportunities to unlock a lifelong love of learning, and, of course, plenty of sweet, toothless smiles!

Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I graduated from Western Washington University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Developmental Psychology. I later earned my master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Pacific University. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working in a variety of educational settings. Whether teaching preschool, working with children experiencing homelessness in downtown Seattle, substitute teaching, tutoring, teaching a first/second-grade multi-age classroom, or teaching here at Buckner, I have loved every experience. In addition, I have worked as a therapist, providing short-term clinical interventions for children, adolescents, and adults in a medical setting. I find so much joy in watching children make new discoveries, develop new interests, and achieve their goals.

On a personal note, I am the proud adoptive mom of three wonderful children. My son, Zander, is a senior at Reagan High School and an avid football player. My daughter, Lainey, is a freshman at Reagan. She enjoys listening to music, drawing, and participating in Girl Scouts. My youngest daughter, Madeline, is 7 years old and will be attending second grade at BFSMS this year. We also have an adorable Golden Retriever named Moose! My husband is a clinical psychologist for the Air Force, and we have been together for over 27 years and married for 24. We have been incredibly fortunate to live on three continents and travel all over the world. In my free time, I enjoy reading, cooking, traveling, hiking, all things glitter, and spending time with my family and friends.

This is going to be an incredible year filled with exciting units of study, hands-on learning experiences, and wonderful memories. Thank you for the privilege of teaching your sweet children. I cannot wait for an amazing year together
