Jacob Rico

I am honored and excited to be joining the BFSMS family as the Music Teacher.

I was born and raised on the southside of San Antonio. In May of 2026 I graduated from Texas Lutheran University with a Bachelors in Music. I enjoy spending time with my immediate and extended family. I enjoy listening to music and learning to play new instruments. Outside of school, I serve as the Children's Church and Children's Orchestra Director where I have attended since my infancy, Beautiful Gate Baptist Church (Iglesia Bautista Puerta La Hermosa).

In attending different public, charter, and Christian schools, I have had the opportunity to learn what sets a Christian school apart from other schools. I attended Christian school for a short amount of time and was impacted so profoundly that I have had the desire to serve in a Christian school to spiritually support students ever since. Being able to connect with students and their families through music is a calling I desire to fulfill while serving at BFSMS.

One of the verses that has impacted me the most is Romans 8:31, because it reminds me that God is always with us, both in the best of times and through life's most difficult moments. Though things may look impossible, “with God all things are possible.” Though we may be fearful for what is ahead, God instructs us to “fear not for I am with thee.” I am extremely excited to see what God has in store for us this school year.
